Four works, about twenty minutes, in an order that makes sense — the shortest possible route into what Voss is doing.

4 stops · about 27 minutes

  1. Stop 1

    Begin with a single flame

Start where the whole catalogue starts — the opening song of Das Verlöschen. Four bare notes in the piano, a candle lit against the dark. Listen for the little rising-then-falling figure: it is the seed of everything that follows.

    Votive — cover
    Votive Lied — Cycle: Das Verlöschen I · 4:42
  2. Stop 2

    Then hear the two voices

Now the partnership that made Voss's name — a duet with soprano Isabella Laurent, his grounded baritone and her soaring line braided into one instrument. This is Voss at his most openly beautiful.

    Eternal Bond — cover
Eternal Bond Oratorio Duet · 7:26
  3. Stop 3

    Sit with the quietest one

The still centre of the cycle: a memory-song in warm A-flat major, the lamp-motif turned upside down. Read the text as it plays — this is the kind of song the whole project is built to deliver.

The Lamp I Kept for You — cover
The Lamp I Kept for You Intermezzo — Cycle: Das Verlöschen VI · 6:15
  4. Stop 4

    Finish at the summit

End with the crowning work — a single-movement choral symphony that climbs, terrace by terrace, toward a dawn it deliberately refuses to resolve. After this, the rest of the catalogue is yours to explore.

Was It Worth the Climbing — cover
Was It Worth the Climbing Choral Symphony · 10:29

From here, the whole catalogue is yours.
