To all who keep a light burning
A romanza for the green flash — the single emerald instant when the sun's last rim slips beneath the sea. Voss sets the whole song as one held breath, suspended on an unresolved Tristan-type sonority that finally, briefly, blazes into D-flat and is gone. The cycle's last major-key light.
